You know, sometimes I think that I’ve been alive too long. In my short 54 years here on earth we’ve gone from doing math on paper to calculators. We’ve gone from propeller driven airplanes to exploring other planets. We’ve gone from simple typewriters to complex computers that will produce documents that we never dreamed we could produce before. We have really advanced and in many ways that is a good thing.
The change that we’ve seen is really nothing compared to the changes that my grandparents saw. My paternal grandmother was born in 1904 and my grandfather was born in 1906. In their time it was not acceptable for an older woman to marry a younger man, even if it was only by two years. Bad grandparents!! Just kidding of course. In their day the automobile was just getting known and people still rode around on horses, and yes, even in New Jersey. I can only imagine what they pondered as they saw their first car, then their first airplane. I can only wonder what they thought as they read of Hitler launching rockets at Great Britain and hearing about jet aircraft. Then, they saw that we were launching satellites into space and we landed a man on the moon.
But with all of the advances that both our forefathers saw and that we have seen our lifetime we have seen a lot of degradation of society. My grandparents grew up to watch the flappers and other partygoers in the 1920’s challenging what was a decent and moral society. They got to witness the toll that alcohol had taken on society when so many rebelled over Prohibition. They, along with their children got to see how evil men can be toward other men when reports of the Nazi Genocide finally was revealed. They had to witness as innocent young men went to war to fight against Nazism and later Communism; many of which never came back or returned in body bags.
Later my generation came along and we rebelled against our fathers. Many of us experimented with sex, drugs and Rock and Roll and got ourselves into a real mess. Society had changed and science had supplied all of the answers. Yahweh was forsaken because in the eyes of most, science could cure all of our ills. If we had a bad day we’d just come home and smoke a joint and all of our problems just melted away, at least for a few moments. Got bad grades in school; don’t blame it on yourself, it was the teacher’s fault. The cops started following us around; well they were just part of the fascist machine. We all just threw personal responsibility out the window. If someone was just plain weird; well that was just their thing, they weren’t hurting anyone. Relativism replaced Yahweh in all portions of our society and nobody seemed to care and if anyone did care they were considered judgmental, critical and they were told to just chill out. Compromising wasn’t frowned upon anymore, it was encouraged and as long as you agreed with what the media was inculcating you with you were okay, fine, accepted.
Now notice that what I was talking above was worldly living; a life outside of Yahweh and one that probably bears similarity to many of you who are Born Again in Yeshua and have been changed into a new creature. Let me emphasize again; a NEW CREATURE
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
You know, Yahweh has allowed me to be able to use analogies to prove points and I’m grateful to him for giving me that ability. To me things seem very clear where serving Yahweh is concerned. I used to be very good at playing word games before I was saved and I could twist anything around that I wanted to in order to get my own way. When I came to faith in Yeshua I didn’t retain that “art” but I remember it and how it is used to deceive and water down the truth. This sort of thing was exemplified by then President Clinton during his testimony concerning his having an affair with Monika Lewinsky. Allegedly some of Clinton’s chief advisors asked him during the affair if he was (“is” at the time) having an affair. Clinton’s response in his testimony:
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement….Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.”
It is very important to, when asking people who are perpetual liars a question, ask them very precise questions. The correct question for such a person is, “have you ever in the past, the past being every day before right now and up till the time that I asked this question, had an affair with Monica Lewinsky?” But then of course you’d have to be very precise with defining the word affair in the meaning that you are curious about.
The whole reason why I went into the Clinton thing is to state that word play is common. It isn’t just a worldly thing either but is something that has been picked up by the church. If a brother wrongs you, you are supposed to approach the brother and talk to him. However, in the Body of Mashiach if you do so nowadays you are being unloving and judgmental. In the eyes of many you’re supposed to just let it go, forgive and forget. I mean, that is what we eventually do anyway because whether the brother/sister accepts what you have to say and they repent or not we are to forgive. However, it is very scriptural, even commanded by Yeshua Himself to approach a brother. It is a fact that political correctness has infiltrated the Church and has polluted the Church so in many cases it supersedes the Scriptures.
Oh, the conversations I’ve had with people. I once approached a sister about reading from the horoscopes. I showed her scripturally why it was wrong. She replied to me that she knew that they are not real and that she did it just for fun. It was her way of telling me to dummy up. I told her that reading a porn novel wasn’t real and asked her if she would read that too. She said that she wouldn’t. There is no level structure for sin and/or disobedience; either something is correct or it isn’t. Paul said that all things are lawful, but not all things were expedient. The enemy likes us to think that some things won’t harm us; they’re just for fun; but in fact dabbling in ungodly things is rebellion against Yahweh. Scripture says that rebellion is:
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 1 Samuel 15:23
Yahweh was speaking to King Saul. This whole thing came about after Saul dabbled with the occult and summoned up the spirit of Samuel through the Witch of Endor. I know, some are saying that this was in the Old Testament, and now we’re not under Law, but under Grace, and that is true. Remember, all things are lawful, but not all things are expedient. In modern terms that is saying, “sure, you can go out and do anything you want, but that does not mean that Yahweh approves of it nor does it mean that it will be good for you, your life and your soul.” He was saying that doing wrong things in your life, although it is covered by grace, could impact your life here on earth and eternally in a very negative manner. In other words, you can do what you want, but if it’s wrong don’t expect Yahweh to bless it or honor it and don’t go complaining to Him when your life turns into one big mess because of your disobedience.
Yahweh, in His Word, is also quite emphatic about our walking with Him and not walking a fence when it comes to serving Him. He was quite angry with those who rebelled at the foot of Mount Sinai, putting many of them to the sword. Yahweh told Moshe that He wanted to destroy Israel entirely but Moshe pleaded for mercy toward the people and Yahweh recanted. Yahweh sent the ten northern Tribes of Israel into exile because they were so wicked, walking the line and serving two masters. Later he sent Judah into a 70 year exile in Babylon; their sin that they said they were Yahweh’s people while they sacrificed to idols and fallen angels. Yahweh is serious about His relationship with people whom He has set apart for himself and it grieves Him when they pay Him lip service and worship other beings (today we call this living for the world) more than we care for Him.
I can’t express in strong enough words how He feels about wishy washy believers who accept the ways of the world yet pay Him lip service only. In this world, if a husband loves his wife with all of his heart and his wife says that she love him in word but doesn’t live it in deed then the husband feels sorrow. It works the same way for the wife that pours herself out for relationship with her husband and gets only lip service in return; she is devastated. We understand earthly relationships because we live them every day; yet people somehow think that it is okay for them to commit infidelity with their relationship with Yahweh; they play the “grace” card to dismiss their misdeeds toward their creator; or they will use the same card to write off the actions of others because of grace, and because they don’t want to be judgmental. Yeshua told us several times that it is okay to judge a person by their fruit:
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matthew 7:15-29
Just as a side note to the scripture above, we cannot forget that “His words” that he talks about above aren’t just what he was speaking then, but being the author and Spirit behind the whole Bible, all of it are words that we need to act upon.
Furthermore, Yeshua tells us in Matthew Chapter six:
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:23-24
Yeshua is telling us in the scripture that if you look at darkness you will become darkness; darkness here being equated with being a compromiser with the world. He then tells us that it is impossible to serve two masters because you will love one and hate the other. If you love the world and the things in the world, or you make excuses for worldly things then I ask you, where do you think you stand in this whole scenario.
And finally, for the big daddy, the queen mother of all scripture where this subject is concerned we have to look at what Paul tells those in the Church in Corinth:
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 2 Corinthians 6:14-15
Notice that Belial is capitalized, so he is a proper noun. It is another word for Satan. Had it not been capitalized it would be just a noun and could be defined as worthless or worthless ones. In either case those who walk in the light are supposed to expose darkness. Light chases darkness away. When the sun comes up everything is revealed because light is shining on it. If you’ve ever lived in a home with cockroaches you know that when the lights come on the vermin head for the dark recesses.
The problem today it seems, and I have personally witnessed many times in recent years is that some “believers” like to live in the twilight zone, no pun intended. They want to have the light but dim their light so as to be able to have communion with the darkness. They turn up the dimmer switch when they are at church or with other believers, but they turn it back down when around worldly friends or when they think that their light might “offend” worldly people. Yeshua told us that people of the Light put their light up high so that it will light up the room for everyone to see. He contrasted this to someone who would hide their light under a bushel. Bushels back in Yeshua’s day were made of straw or flax woven together to make a basket. The light that they had were candles. Do you see a problem here? If you put a candle under a bushel it not only hides the light but the candle starts the bushel on fire and the fire consumes the candle with its heat. Compromise with the world is a self defeating purpose that will someday and somehow destroy you.
Yeshua also gave us two more analogies when it comes to fellowshipping with the world in a compromising manner:
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Matthew 7:6
You and I have been made holy through our faith in Yeshua and by the blood that has been shed for our sins. It is not our righteousness, it is His. When we come to faith in Yeshua and ask Him to save us we give up our sovereignty; in modern terms that is our self-determination. We surrender all, as the song says. When we fellowship with the world so as to approve of worldly things or when we partake in worldly things we take ourselves and offer ourselves to those in the world. You can believe me, that when Yeshua said that the swine will rend us when we cast our goodness and holiness before them He was in effect saying that they will accept you for a little while, but when they try to walk in their ways they will discern your holiness and they will turn and tear you apart.
Let me tell you that this has happened to me. I’m not saying anything to any of you that Yahweh hasn’t spoken to me. At my last workplace and at my current workplace I have tried to fit in. I wouldn’t necessarily do what they did, but I’d chuckle at snide remarks, chuckle at off color jokes and when I did those things I was approving of them. In both places, the past and the present, they would accept me for a little while and then they would falsely accuse me of things, treat me horribly and even my boss, who claimed to be a believer would set snares and traps for me. But isn’t it like the devil to try to lead us down another path and then turn around to tear us apart.
I have to be honest and say that I see an increase in the way that believers in Yeshua are taking on worldly things or condoning them at the very least. It seems that as I am getting older I’m noticing that there is an increase in the yuck that is presented before believers for them to choose to believe in or not. We often forget the words of Yeshua who told us that a little leaven takes over the whole lump of dough. A little bit of sin can take over a whole person in the same way. And, just because you’re Born Again doesn’t mean that you’re immune to it; it means that if you choose to stay close to Yahweh then he’ll show you right from wrong and you can flee from the very appearance of evil; and He’ll give you strength to flee and not look back. So when I see people whom I call believers condoning worldly things, or making excuses for worldly things, or Yahweh forbid, participating in worldly things and then justifying those things there could only be two options to their walk. Either they are so compromised by the things of this world and so outside of Yahweh’s Word that they can’t see the evil; or, they are not believers and are counterfeits. There can be no other option than the two.
I grieves me that I have to write such things. I don’t like writing such things. But I have to write these things because there is something drastically wrong with the way that some Christians are thinking these days. And, it’s not just one thing a year that is coming into the church and duping believers, it is tens, hundreds and thousands of things that dupe believers into believing lies. As a watchman for Yahweh I was accustomed to one or two strange doctrines coming against the church each year. That was easy to deal with but there are so many these days that I cannot keep up with them anymore. Frankly, I’m getting weary defending the faith and it’s not because of the things coming against our faith that is making me weary. What is making me weary is that each year there are less and less in number, Christians who have discernment to tell right from wrong and who are willing to stand against wrong, and to call a spade a spade. I now understand when Yeshua told the disciples to pray for workers to harvest the field because without help the worker grows weary and worn out. In churches they used to talk about the 95/5 principle. That meant that 95 percent of the work is done by 5 percent of the people. This has been proved out to me to be true.
So what does someone like me do to show people that is spade is a spade. Well, the first thing I have to do is to realize that it is Yahweh that is telling me to say things to people. Since that is the case, it is His job to make people listen, not mine. I understand why Moses and Aaron would bring a message to Pharoah and then just turn and walk away; the message was going to be discarded as nonsense. They had to trust that when Yahweh told them to say something it would happen and it was Yahweh’s reputation that was on the line, not theirs. So my current response, although it might seem like indifference and uncaring to some is to just say, “this is what Yahweh says. If you believe it then great, if not that is between you and him,” and I have to then walk away. I can’t care anymore what people think; don’t like it, then argue with Yahweh.
This past week I grew full of despair. I got onto my Facebook account and saw a picture that someone had “liked” and it was a picture of a man in a town about twenty minutes north of here. The man wore all black, had long black hair, makeup and sunglasses. He was trying to look like Ozzie Osbourne. The man wore a gold cross that stood out well against his black shirt. He held his arms up and his hands were held in a backward fashion as he did the Satanic salute; the hand gesture of the Goat of Mendez, or Baphomet. What really shocked me was that two people I know, who claim to be believers in Yahweh Yeshua actually “liked” the photo, one even making a remark that the guy is “cool.” Later, another person that I know echoed their accolades and acceptance of this man’s actions.
I was shocked. I wrote to tell everyone what the man was actually doing and said that he was trying to walk in two kingdoms and it would not work. One woman that I do not know dismissed my concerns, saying that the guy just liked to have fun and that she doubted that Ozzie Osbourne was a Satanist. That’s easy to refute; just post his lyrics, which I did. The third Christian lady that I mentioned posted her message after me. I felt sad that three supposed believers in Yeshua could not see the evil for what it was. But what was even more sad was when the third lady dismissed the evidence that I gave; good solid evidence, and sided with the detractors. Very sad indeed.
With this having been said, I want to close with by saying that in the days to come I’ll just answer people with scripture. If they deny the scripture they show their fruit. I think that Yahweh is trying to show a select few of us that there is very little faith left on the earth, especially among those who say that they are called by His Name. We’re going to have to be like the prophets of old who stood alone while all others forsook Yahweh. We’re going to have to realize that it is just He and us and we’re going to have to relate to him more and more as the apostasy grows colder and colder. Satan has kicked the deception into high gear and we need to trust Yahweh more than ever, even with our lives. “When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith upon the earth?” My answer, in only a remnant of those who have not chosen to defile themselves with the Beast System.
