1977 Written On The Wind

SPIRIT WIND
(Chuck Girard)

Spirit wind, waitin’ through the cold lonely winter
Just for you, just for you
Spirit wind, warmer than the breezes in Hawaii wind
Waits for you, waits for you

Patiently, through the storms and the cold, lonely weather
in your mind, He waits for you
Lovingly, till you end your hopeless slumber
He waits for you, just callin’ you home

Spirit wind waits to fill your soul with His meaning
You will come, one day you’ll feel him
Spirit wind that flows to you from the seat of truth
From the love of him that cares for you

Spirit wind, longs to tell of the love for you
Spirit wind, longs to tell you news of the kingdom
To make you feel, to help you see

MARY’S SONG
(Chuck Girard)

Late at night when all the world was sleeping
There she lay in darkness softly weeping
Feeling love so strong, she thought her heart could break
But she knew it all was right but still so hard to take

It was finally over,  it was finished now
What would life, her life be like without him now
Looking back in time, she knew it had to be
But still it hurts so deeply anyhow, if some could only feel

That special love, that special love….mmmmmmm

It had always been so strange and wonderful
Time would never steal the memory
Pain so sweet that night some thirty years before
Feeling pain so different now, as she never felt before

Nothing left to do except to realize
That the plans of God were fully finalized
Always meant to be and she had been so blessed
To be the chosen woman but now this final test

Of mother’s love, mother’s love….mmmmmmm

THANK YOU LORD
(Chuck Girard)

When day is done and you’re all alone
Everyone’s in bed and you’re finally all alone
And you have no phone to answer and there’s no one at the door
There’s no one comin’ over anymore today

And you sit beside the table and you think about the day
How you been so busy runnin’ and your mind begins to stray
And you get a peaceful feelin’ and you know the reason why
And when it hits you, you feel as if you could almost cry

Oh Lord, I thank you for today
It’s been so different ever since I decided I would go your way
Each day is so much sweeter than the day that went before
Thank you Lord that you’ll be with me tomorrow

Now you’re here, I can feel you near
It’s always such a peaceful feelin’ when you are near
You let me know you love me when I need to know the most
And even though I feel so good, you make me feel even better

Now your presence here in this little room
Makes it heaven here as your spirit brings His peaceful bloom
And it’s more than human understanding will ever comprehend
That God himself is visiting me right now

Oh Lord, I thank you for today
It’s been so different ever since I decided I would go your way
Each day is so much sweeter than the day that went before
Thank you Lord that you’ll be with me tomorrow
Thank you Lord that you’ll be with me tomorrow
Thank you Lord that you’ll be with me forever

PLAIN OL’ JOE
(Chuck Girard)

He lived in Cincinnati, was born in ’29
His life was uneventful, not a bit like yours or mine
His mother raised him proper and his dad kept him in line
He lived in Cincinnati, he was born in ’29

He went upstate to college, he got no honors there
He had a lot to offer but no one seemed to care
He’d visit home on weekends and his folks would see him then
They never asked him what he’d done or where he might have been

He met a girl along the way, he thought it was romance
He started to come out a bit, she’d given him a chance
For a week he couldn’t find her then he finally got the news
She’d married an old boyfriend and she’d moved to Syracuse

He holds the hurt in nicely so you’d never ever tell
Outside he looks like heaven but inside he feels like hell
He’s cryin’ out for something that he’ll never ever know
And everyone ignores him ’cause he’s just a plain ol’ Joe
Ohhhhhhh  oooh-oooh

And ooh, plain ol’ Joe, and oo oh, plain ol’ Joe
And ooh, plain ol’ Joe, and oo oh, plain ol’ Joe

Everyone around him seemed so self-assured
Everybody seemed to have it made
Everybody acted like you never lived
You’re just a guy who never made the grade
You’re just a guy who never had a real friend
You never seemed to ever really bloom
But you finally made the papers just the other day
When they found your body in your lonely little room

He lived in Cincinnati, was born in ’29
His life was uneventful, not a bit like yours or mine
His mother raised him proper and his dad kept him in line
He lived in Cincinnati and he died in ’69

HARVEST TIME
(Chuck Girard)

Here we go again, the moon is on the mountain

The dew is on the field, yes, the time is finally here
Harvest time is come, I don’t see anyone to work the fields now
I guess the harvest time will have to wait another year

Harvest time is here, I guess it’ll come and go now
No one comes to reap and the fruit just rots away
Harvest time is here, what a shame that we’re not prepared now
Or maybe we just don’t care or maybe we just don’t see

By the light of the moon the harvest died
And I thought what a waste as I wondered why

Why no one came to reap, why no one came to nourish
They knew that the time was right but they looked the other way
They all stood there in apathy and you and I we stood among them
We all stood there in selfishness and we let the season slip away
We all stood there in selfishness and we let the season slip away

FOOL FOR JESUS
(Chuck Girard)

People try to tell me that I can’t live this way
That things have changed and life is not the same
And they try to tell me that I’m missing all the fun
But I know this peace I’ve found has only now begun

Some have tried to tell me to live and just be free
That we must seek life’s pleasures while they last
And they try to tell me that these are modern days
And that I’m just a fool to go on living in the past

Someone’s always tryin’ to shake my faith and bring me down
But all I know is what I feel inside
People to try to tell me that I am just a fool
But I guess I’ll be a fool for Jesus
But I guess I’ll be a fool for Jesus

HEAR THE ANGELS SING
(Chuck Girard)

I can almost see that city standing there beyond that hill
The city made for living in the Father’s will
I cannot see a temple for it is not made of stone
No, the temple is the glory of the Son of God alone

There is no need for moon and sun, his light is so much more
It’s shining from his countenance right through that open door
And as I pressed more steady onward, then I saw the King
Standing in the holy city, and I then began to hear the angels sing

They’re singin’ (la-la-la-la-la–la-la-la–la-la-la-la-la)
Hear the angels sing (la-la-la-la-la–la-la-la–la-la-la-la-la)
Hear the angels sing (la-la-la-la-la–la-la-la–la-la-la-la-la)
If you open up your heart, you’ll hear the angels sing

Then I saw the river of the water of life,
Flowin’ from the mighty throne
The words that came from the river’s voice, were the words of God alone
Come to me all you that thirst and you shall be satisfied
Come to me if you are weary, rest here by my side

The last thing that I saw before that scene went out of sight
Were the multitudes of chosen standing in the holy light
The praises of their voices could be heard forevermore
As the gazed upon the Savior standing by the mighty throne

They’re singin’ (la-la-la-la-la–la-la-la–la-la-la-la-la)
Hear the angels sing (la-la-la-la-la–la-la-la–la-la-la-la-la)
Hear the angels sing (la-la-la-la-la–la-la-la–la-la-la-la-la)
If you open up your heart, you’ll hear the angels sing

PEACE IN THE VALLEY
(Chuck Girard)

I hear the river calling, I see the fountain flowing
I see the people running free
I see the city standing like a jeweled mountain
And the angel standing in the sun

The light is never ending, the gate is always open
The street appears as brilliant gold
I hear the people singing praises to the Father
I drink new wine and I taste the air

Ooh-oh-oh-oh Ooh-oh-oh-oh
Ooooh ooooh oh oh

I see the throne before me, I feel the warmth of sunlight
Across a field of velvet green
I touch the softness of a cloth of many colors
I see his face and I feel his love

Ooh-oh-oh-oh Ooh-oh-oh-oh
Ooooh ooooh oh oh

Peace in the valley, people runnin’ free
Peace in the valley, people runnin’ free
Peace in the valley, people runnin’ free
Peace in the valley, people runnin’ free

THE WARRIOR

(Chuck Girard)

There’s a long, low cry from the heavens
As the wind blows the skin right off the trees
And the thunder splits the sky, as the silent warrior dies
And the Spirit rips the veil, as the wind slows to a breeze

There’s a long, low cry from the heavens
As the wind blows the skin right off the trees
And the heavens filled with rage, as they closed the final page
It was written, now it is finished and it will last throughout the ages

The red drops dripping slowly down as they sink into the earth below
Mixing with the wetness from the rain above,
It was sunny just a moment ago
The precious drops of his lifeblood flow,
Down the brow of his battered face
You’d think you were looking at a nasty dream
From the bottom of the depths of space
Was a moment in time when the world stood still,
As the plan took its final course
All the darkness from the past and the woe to come
Were defeated in the final divorce
As the scripture read, his side was pierced
Still there came no cry of pain
For his spirit was in flight to it’s rightful home
As the last of his lifeblood drained

There’s a long, low cry from the heavens
As the wind blows the skin right off the trees
And the early light of day, shines it’s early morning rays
On two silent figures there, as they roll the stone away
