CHARLIES DREAM

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music By Michael Omartian

Charlie’s dream was out in California,

Somewhere in West L.A.

He arrived, expectations in his suitcase,

And found him a place to stay.

Months and months passed,

All he saw were those hard times.

Soon he knew his luck only ran part time,

Or no time at all.

Charlie stayed there, tried to make it workout,

And find him that pot of gold.

“I’ll keep reaching even if it kills me,”

He said as his blood ran cold.

Sinking deep, he called for help and said,

“Save me, Lord.”

The Lord He said, “I’ll show you where your wealth is stored,

Just lay down your dream and look to me.”

You and I,

Have a touch of Charlie hidden deep inside.

You and I,

Have a dream in each of us that’s been denied.

Time was wasting, Charlie weighed his choices,

To see what his heart would do.

Giving up the dream of a lifetime,

Was worse than anything he knew.

Still he saw the only way and said,

“Take it Lord.”

And in his hand appeared a gift – like a great award –

And the label read, “CHARLIE’S DREAM.”

You and I,

Have a touch of Charlie hidden deep inside.

You and I,

Have a dream in each of us that’s been denied.

THE ONLY THING MISSING IS YOU

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

Got a home with a “view,” and a brand new heart.

Now I’m rich with a wealth that can’t depart.

And the peace is like gold.

I’ve got love that fills the halls,

Laughter bouncing off the walls.

I’ve got sisters and brothers,

A father like no other.

The only thing missing is you.

The only thing missing is you.

If you were here with me,

My life would be complete.

The only thing missing,

Only thing missing is you.

Every day is the start of a happy song,

There is joy knowing I’m just where I belong.

And in the night, there is a light.

But I can hardly bear it,

If you’re not here to share it.

The past has all been swept,

I’ve got everything I need except:

The only thing missing is you.

The only thing missing is you.

If you were here with me,

My life would be complete.

The only thing missing,

Only thing missing is you.

If you could see it.

If you could just believe.

The only thing missing is you.

The only thing missing is you.

If you were here with me,

My life would be complete.

The only thing missing,

Only thing missing is you.

THE BUILDER

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

There was a feeling of “do it yourself,”

When I was under construction.

But each time I tried to get something nailed down,

It became just an obstruction.

The The Designer looked into my heart,

And said, “I know better. I planned you from the start.”

You are The Builder,

I’m made of stone.

I find it hard to see.

What you could make of me.

I am the sinner.

You died for me.

I find it hard to know,

How you could love me so.

I find it hard to know,

How you could love me so.

So when the rain comes and knocks on my door,

I know I’ll always be standing.

Cause I met The Architect some time before,

And He’s never failed in His planning.

Still so unfinished, sometimes my hope grows dim.

That’s when He reminds me that I am complete,

I’m complete in Him

You are The Builder,

I’m made of stone.

I find it hard to see.

What you could make of me.

I am the sinner.

You died for me.

I find it hard to know,

How you could love me so.

I find it hard to know,

How you could love me so.

MR. TRASH MAN

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

Oh Mr. Trash Man,

I’m glad you came today.

I’ve got a selection,

Of things I’m throwing away.

See Mr. Trash Man,

I just cleaned out my heart.

Don’t know if it’s over,

But at least it’s a start.

Jesus said if I would come to Him,

He’d take my past and I could start all over again.

Start again.

But there were thing I had carried around,

It was up to me to come to him and lay them down.

Gonna lay them down.

So Mr. Trash Man,

I’m glad you came today.

I’ve got a selection,

Of things I’m throwing away.

Into the trashcan, barrel full of pride.

A sack of self pity, a bag of blues on the side.

Jesus said if you will come to Him,

He will take your past and you can start all over again,

Start again.

But if there’s “junk,” that you been carryin’ around,

It’s up to you to come to Him and lay it down.

You gotta lay it down.

Oh Mr. Trash Man,

I’m glad you came today.

I’ve got a selection,

Of things I’m throwing away.

See Mr. Trash Man,

Behind that box of fears,

An injustice collection,

Collected over the years.

Mr. Trash Man, can you see how I’ve been loaded down.

Love has had no room to move around.

Do you see that bitterness and sorrow at the door?

I think I’ve outgrown it,

I doesn’t fit any more.

Oh Mr. Trash Man,

I’m glad you came today.

I’ve got a selection,

Of things I’m throwing away.

Wait Mr. Trash Man,

As long as I’ve been freed,

Here’s a stack of old memories,

The kind that no one would need.

ANYTHING YOU ASK OF ME

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

I traveled the road to the end of myself,

While the trophies of life gathered dust on the shelf.

And I found that it just didn’t matter.

I found that I just didn’t care.

I looked at the struggle I’d carried in me.

And somehow I knew I could never be free.

Till I came to the foot of the cross.

Came to the foot of the tree,

And laid it down there.

So anything you ask of me,

Anything you ask you know I will do it.

Anything you want of me,

Anything you want I’ll give to you.

If you ask me to, I will.

I structured my days with a clever design,

But the plan I laid out weren’t His, they were mine.

And I saw that it just wouldn’t happen.

I saw that it never would be.

I picked up the life I’d driven astray,

Cause life isn’t life till you give it away.

And came to the arms of the Savior.

Came to the feet of my Lord,

And laid it down there.

I laid it down there.

So anything you ask of me,

Anything you ask you know that I will do it.

Anything you want of me,

Anything you want I’ll give to you.

If you ask me to, I will.

I will

DR. JESUS

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

Dr. Jesus it hurts so bad right here,

Would you be so kind,

To check here deep inside my heart,

And just below my mind.

Yes, I’ve had this pain for quite awhile,

A lifetime I believe.

I’ve tried everything I know of,

And it never seems to leave.

I’ve heard you’re the only specialist,

Who ever had the cure.

The others only cover up,

A wound that’s always there.

You come highly recommended,

In fact million of people say,

If you want to be save from death and all,

You’ve got the only way.

Thank you Dr. Jesus,

For giving me your time.

How your love appeases,

A disconcerted mind.

Now I’m feeling better,

Being here with You.

See if I’ll remember,

All that I should do.

“Praise no other, love your brother,

Read the word, believe you’re cured.

Remember I’m the doctor,

Cast your cares upon Me.

BIG TIME

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

Opening dialogue……………………..

Song:

It doesn’t matter if it’s rock or pop,

As long as I can make it to the top.

I don’t know why the Lord can’t see,

What it would do for Him if I could just be,

Big Time.

I won’t talk about Jesus,

That would be going too far.

I know that they will see Him,

In my guitar.

(Chorus)

Christian Superstar,

That is what you are,

I’ve got to be Big Time,

Christian Superstar,

That is what you are.

Well the folks will get saved,

They will have no choice,

When they see,

I’ve got the greatest voice.

(Chorus)

I play good,

I look good,

I am good,

That’s why I have to be,

Big Time.

HALF PAST THREE

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

Only half past three,

And yet you’ve got a way of taking self control from me.

Only half past three,

Who know at four-and-twenty where you’ll be.

Sitting on a mountain top,

Or at a poor man’s table.

Leading sheep from anywhere,

As far as you are able.

I want you to know love the way that I never knew it.

I don’t want you to travel life the way that I’ve been through it.

Oh Lord, don’t let me ruin things with faults and weak displays.

Don’t let me make a monster from a perfect piece of clay.

It would be so easy to do.

Unless you take what’s inside me,

And replace it all with you.

Only half past three,

A curly head shadow that is never out of mind.

Only half past three,

With eyes that want to trust that you are kind.

What else do I ever see,

Preparing him for solo flight.

But all the possibilities,

For good, for bad, for love, for fright.

I don’t want him to ache inside the way I did for years.

I don’t want him to have to shed more than his share of tears.

Oh Lord, help me teach him all that You have taught me.

Show me how to guide his footsteps and when to set him free.

Give him a time to know you,

And a place inside your kingdom,

For when his time is through.

Sometimes I think Oh Lord, It’s getting very late for me.

But the sun is just about to rise on half past three.

END TIMES

Lyrics by Stormie Omartian
Music by Michael Omartian

Let us worship gold, quenching our desires,

And we will later pay the price.

The burning of our souls is quite a noble sacrifice.

Isn’t it nice to know,

Nice to know we’re always right.

We don’t look at hate.

We don’t count his offspring,

We’ll just say that they are gone.

Let’s sit inside our gates, pretend it isn’t going on.

Isn’t it good to see,

Good to see just what we want.

I believe the signs are clear – the end is near.

I believe the signs are clear – the end is near.

I can see the end is near – the signs are very clear.

Families are torn, ripped apart and broken till no shred of life remains.

Must be evolution, or it could be “growing pains.”

Isn’t it nice to know,

Nice to know it’s all O.K.

I believe the signs are clear – the end is near.

I believe the signs are clear – the end is near.

I can see the end is near.

Just like He said, He’s coming to take us home;

All who wait and believe.

Hell make the broken whole, the blind to see,

And we’ll be completely free.

Ignore the battered child, treat the guilty well while the innocent are shot.

It could just exist in someone’s mind as well as not.

Isn’t it nice to know,

Nice to know we’re always right.

Sanctify the rape, disregard insanity and let the weak be scarred.

Surely it’s their fault, a thing they secretly desired.

Isn’t it good to see,

Good to see just what we want.

I believe the signs are clear – the end is near.

I believe the signs are clear – the end is near.

I can see the end is near – the signs are clear.

I can see the end is near – the signs are clear.

I believe the signs are clear.

Just like He said, He’s coming to take us home;

All who wait and believe.

He’ll make the broken whole, the blind to see,

And we’ll be completely free.
